1.   Knowledge of general law enforcement methods and techniques.

With numerous years of professional background as Police Officer with the United States Air Force and Illinois Air National Guard as well as more recently the Department of Veteran Affairs, along with having served as Custody Officer with the U.S. Marshals Service, I offer comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques and practices. 

 

I am well-versed in methodologies and techniques for apprehending, detaining and arresting violators as well as restraining and subduing violent individuals and conducting both physical and facility/property searches.  As a Police Officer, I am proficient in determining and classifying criminal and civil violations, issuing citations, writing quality incident, accident and offense reports, and ensuring consistent compliance with both Federal and State laws, codes, regulations, and guidelines at both criminal and civil levels. My background also includes strong experience in traffic and parking control along with accident response. Additionally I have extensive experience in property obtaining and preserving critical evidence.

 

Illustrating my level of expertise, I have held supervisory/leadership roles.  Serving as Military Police Officer/Supervisor with the Illinois Air National Guard, I effectively facilitated personnel training and provided guidance in a wide range of law enforcement methods and techniques as well as coordinated and led daily briefings.

 

Complementing my extensive practical experience, I have a solid academic background.  This has included completing the USAF Military Police Academy and Los Angeles Air Force Base Police Training.  With a consistent focus on maximizing my skills and knowledge, I more recently completed training through the Law Enforcement Training Center in North Little Rock, AR.

2.   Knowledge of extensive body of standardized, optional, and innovative investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to detect, investigate, and resolve crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope of requirements for solutions on patrol assignments.

Throughout my law enforcement career I have been extensively involved in a wide range of criminal and incident investigations far beyond standard patrol duties.  For instance, in my current position as a Police Officer with the Department of Veteran Affairs, I am responsible for investigating crimes occurring on any VA-controlled property and often collaborate with cross-functional law enforcement agencies in efficiently gathering facts and evidence supporting assigned cases.  I routinely actively investigate fire, intrusion, panic and disaster alarms as well as emergency calls.

 

As a Police Officer with the United States Air Force for 12 years, I steered investigations into any crimes associated with USAF-property.  Again, this included routinely coordinating investigations with multiple law enforcement and related agencies in compiling facts, gathering case information etc.

 

With the Illinois Air National Guard, I conducted comprehensive traffic accidents investigations.  Additionally, I spearheaded investigations to obtain and preserve evidence.  This included directly interviewing witnesses, victims and persons of interest as well as obtaining their written statements. 

 

Along with my professional background, my extensive law enforcement and military academic background has covered investigative, information gathering, interviewing, evidence management, and investigative documentation training.
