as demonstrated in the accompanying documents, my current assignment is serving as equal opportunity advisor specialist aboard the uss ronald reagan.  in this position, i supervise a staff of 45 personnel with responsibility for providing data analysis, reviewing a variety of records and reports, and conducting focus groups on multiple topics, all with the goal of command awareness and company morale improvement.  results of these analyses, reviews and focus groups are then forwarded to higher level management for disposition.

 

additionally, i direct a 25-member team in delivering dod- and don-compliant training regarding policies and procedures, and serve as single point-of-contact for the navy equal opportunity program.  i employ a number of formal as well as informal methods in resolving conflicts, complaints and other problems or issues. 

 

prior to that, i served on the uss shiloh, based in san diego, ca, from 2002 through 2006.  during my tenure on the shiloh, i served as the leading chief petty officer, managing a crew of 18 tasked with all maintenance and upkeep of the ship s hvac systems, the auxiliary air and hydraulic systems, the potable water systems and two diesel engines.  for this assignment, i developed proactive regular maintenance schedules which resulted in reducing unplanned-for and excessively costly emergency downtime as well as increasing equipment lifespan. 

 

i also trained and mentored 20 individuals as part of a program for developing junior personnel into individuals able to perform duties at maximum potential.  as engineering training team leader, i designed and implemented the requisite in-depth engineering plant training.  

 

from 1999-2002, i was supervisor of recruiting and staffing for the navy recruiting district in richmond, va, managing a staff of seven and overseeing all personnel prospecting activities for the district.  in this position, i utilized a variety of software programs in developing effective recruitment policies and processes.
