Continue to serve in California State Controller s Office (S.C.O.) in most recent assignment, beginning in October 2010, within the Unclaimed Property Division, receiving reports from unclaimed property holders containing shares. cash and/or certificates.  Am tasked with analyzing reports received by Security Reconciliation Section, assuring property holders, including mutual fund, banks and insurance companies for example, perform transfers of securities to S.C.O. accurately and in compliance with regulations.  Hold responsibility for identifying and correcting any discrepancies within transfer report, i.e. incorrect identification or account numbers or non-match of money figures between reported transfer amount and actual figure.  When necessary, utilize correspondence,

telephone calls or emails to personally contact involved parties in order to resolve any problems.  Assure adjustments within dividend/interest payments, work closely with S.C.O. Broker in problem resolution, and, on a daily basis, update information on S.C.O. system.

 

From June 2009 through September 2010, reconciled claim schedules from the California Public Employment Retirement System (CALPERS) and California State Teachers Retirement System (CALSTERS) within the State Controller s Fiscal System.  Verified sufficiency of monies for required payment; if insufficient, requested funds transfer from appropriate department, posted claims to appropriate spread sheet and reconciled on daily basis.     

 

Additionally, reconciled and posted Journal entries for California Travel Advance & Expense Reimbursement (CalATERS) regarding claims initiated by variety of state agencies, posting to S.C.O. Fiscal System and updating systems accordingly.  Worked closely with State Treasurer s Office (S.T.O.) in reconciling payments from various counties/agencies, utilized email to notify entities that payments were reconciled.    

 

Worked with Property Tax Postponement Program for the S.C.O. from March 2007 through May 2009, analyzing/verifying submitted claimant payment checks, posting payment information to system and submitting written correspondence to claimants regarding any balance due, releasing lien if Property Tax loan paid in full.  Performed any needed adjustments to Franchise Tax Board Tax Assistance Program report, and prepared weekly/monthly management reports, updating system information as needed.

 

Additional daily responsibilities included preparing claim schedules for Accounting Department in support of providing payments to other agencies/counties, filing all paper documents and performing transaction corrections for counties within Fiscal System.
